Carmen Soto

Educational Adviser

As an Educational Adviser, Ms. Soto provides academic advising and access to educational opportunities to the Foundation’s Young Scholars.

Ms. Soto is originally from El Monte, a suburb east of Los Angeles, California.  Ms. Soto’s educational experience cultivated her desire to increase educational opportunities for traditionally underserved student populations. Her desire to help students has permeated into her work within several student affairs departments at Los Angeles area colleges; nationally presented research; and currently through her position as an Educational Adviser at the Foundation.

In addition to her formal experience, Ms. Soto has participated in service learning trips both nationally and internationally that have examined economic and educational disparities in areas such as the Navajo Nation and Cusco, Peru.

Ms. Soto earned her B.A. in Sociology from Loyola Marymount University and her M. Ed. in Educational Counseling from the University of Southern California.
