Mark Birmingham is Chief Financial Officer, Chief Investment Officer and Treasurer for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation. He is responsible for managing the $625 million investment portfolio and the financial and administrative functions of the Foundation.
Mr. Birmingham has over 30 years of financial experience. He joined the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation as the Founding Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Treasurer in March 2001. Mr. Birmingham was instrumental in developing the Foundation's initial $500 million portfolio investment policy and asset allocations; strategic planning; financial and tax reporting; budgeting and payout forecasting; human resources and employee benefit plans; insurance and risk management; and construction and financing of the Foundation's headquarters building.
Prior to joining the Foundation he spent over 19 years holding a series of increasingly senior financial positions, including six years with The Freedom Forum, an operating foundation with over $1 billion in assets, as director/treasury, and 13 years with Gannett Co., as a controller, new media development, and audit.
Mr. Birmingham received an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from the William E. Simon School of Management, University of Rochester, Rochester, New York; and a B.A. in economics from Saint Lawrence University, Canton, New York.
