As a Lead Educational Adviser, Ms. Thomas provides academic advising and access to educational opportunities to the Foundation’s Young Scholars.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Thomas taught college courses in education and trained K-12 teachers to serve students with a variety of needs, backgrounds, and interests. She has worked in public and private schools as a foreign language instructor and assistant teacher in gifted and enrichment education. She has also served as a summer coordinator and residential counselor for the PreCollege and Summer Studies programs of the Duke University Talent Identification Program.
Ms. Thomas completed a Ph.D. in educational studies from Emory University, specializing in multicultural education and second language acquisition. She holds an Ed.M. and an M.A. in curriculum and teaching/urban and multicultural education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her B.A. degree is in French and Spanish from Wake Forest University.
