As Manager, Scholar Events Programming, Mr. Spence is responsible for the curriculum design and management of all Scholar events.
Before joining the Foundation in 2007, Mr. Spence taught Spanish at a public high school in central Virginia. As a teacher, he helped develop curricula for the county's World Languages Department, sponsored a variety of extracurricular enrichment activities, and utilized popular technology to enhance language learning. Mr. Spence spent his first four years with the Foundation as an Educational Adviser with the Young Scholars program.
Mr. Spence holds an A.B. in Spanish with minors in psychology and philosophy from Wabash College, and an M.A. in Spanish literature at the University of Virginia.
