Patrick Wu

Educational Adviser, Young Scholars

Department: Scholarship Programs

As a senior educational adviser, Patrick provides academic advising and access to educational opportunities to the Foundation’s Young Scholars.

Before joining the Foundation, Patrick spent time teaching AP Language and Composition and coordinating service-learning with the Noble Network of Charter Schools in Chicago, as well as teaching middle school math and writing at a KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) school in Gaston, NC. Specific to working with exceptionally promising students, Patrick has served as an instructor and as the academic dean for the Civic Leadership Institute, a service-based summer program in partnership with Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth and Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development. In addition to his work as a teacher, Patrick has coordinated and led over

a dozen different service-oriented trips for middle school, high school, and college-aged participants from domestic locations such as Baltimore, Washington, DC, Chicago, and New Orleans to international trips in Uganda and Cameroon. Patrick is also a trained challenge course facilitator and wilderness first responder who has led adventure-based service trips to Yosemite & Glacier National Parks, as well as Lake Tahoe, CA.

The proudest member of the University of Maryland Class of 2006, Patrick earned his bachelor’s degree in university-community partnerships, a self-designed major that combines higher education with the values of service-learning and social justice.
