The University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa, AL) is using its College Advising Corps grant to develop a community-college advising program to help low-income students transfer to four-year institutions. The program, housed in the University’s Education Policy Center, places recent Alabama graduates in one of ten community colleges to serve as College Transfer Advisers, helping students to complete transfer admission, financial aid, and scholarship applications. Advisers also assist students in identifying four-year schools that best meet their needs and educational goals. Over four years, the program will provide one-on-one college-advising services to approximately 11,000 students.
