First Lady Michelle Obama acknowledged Jack Kent Cooke Foundation grant recipient, the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI), at a White House ceremony announcing the launching of Joining Forces, a national initiative which calls on Americans to join in supporting military families. President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and Dr. Jill Biden all attended the event and spoke on behalf of the initiative, which includes efforts to improve educational opportunities for children of military servicemembers.
