"Knowledge is power. Lack of knowledge hinders growth. Educated people should try to educate the uneducated and not take advantage of them...Every day, I strive to educate myself so that I may educate someone else.
Latisha Wilson is aiming high as a broadcast-journalist: to emulate the Oprah Winfrey Show and the high-octane content of the Today show, but with an emphasis on political coverage. She wants to educate and entertain, but also to "tell news stories that inspire people to become better human beings." Her professors say she already has accomplished so much in learning to support herself as a young teenager, in setting her own goals and pushing toward them.
She began work at 14, has lived on her own since 16, and took time away from starting her own college career to support her sister. Now, Latisha says "it's my turn to follow my dreams." She does well academically and has found her calling in journalism by editing and writing for the campus newspaper. As an individual, she regrets her past political apathy. As a journalist, she vows to "do my part to get more people involved in the political process."
