"To me, success is the natural outcome of belief and courage. It is belief in oneself, belief in the good of others, the courage to ask the right questions and the courage to act, even when others fall silent."
When Daniel Martin saw the results of war in the Balkans, he knew he wanted to become a diplomat and work for global understanding. "I believe that if we sow an understanding of our past, present, and future, we will reap a harvest of greater prosperity and peace for generations," he says.
Daniel achieved a 3.95 GPA at South Suburban College, where he won four scholarships and was named to Phi Theta Kappa honor society. He was vice president of the society's chapter, vice president of the Student Government Association, was named to the national dean's list, and won a scholarship for being a "Leader of Promise."
Daniel intends to seek a bachelor's degree from USC's School of International Relations and later pursue a degree in international law. He wants to focus on East Asia or the Middle East and learn Levantine Arabic or Mandarin Chinese. In the long run, he sees himself as a future US ambassador to China, handling negotiations on trade, human rights, and environmental issues.
