“People often view my many interests as conflicting, but I now know that a plethora of talents and abilities only makes for a more broad and successful intellectual journey.”
Miles Goldman’s passions are diverse. They range from playing the piano to painting self-portraits to studying science and math. Miles has won multiple awards for his artistic endeavors. Lately, he has focused his artist’s eye on filmmaking. Miles has been taking college classes in film study and production and has worked on independent film sets and public television projects. At the same time, he is a leading member of the National Honor Society at his high school and a National Merit Commended Scholar.
“One of my greatest rewards as a teacher has been having Miles as a student,” says his English teacher Mary Pearsall. “I never cease to marvel at his accomplishments and passion for learning. He is a true scholar in every sense of the term.”
As a Young Scholar, Miles has studied filmmaking and also broadened his scientific knowledge taking chemistry and biology summer enrichment courses. But his most meaningful experience was studying abroad in Germany. “Immersion in another culture reinforced my philosophy that the most interesting ideas are the ones you haven’t already had,” he says.
