Biography

In high school, Tanner excelled in math and science. He took summer courses and distance learning classes from John’s Hopkins University after he finished the math and science courses offered at school by his junior year. For four years, Tanner has pursued an independent project research wind energy. In high school, he finished his first novel. For many summers, he has worked on a cherry farm in Oregon.

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation's Young Scholars program allowed Tanner to study  Engineering through CTY at Johns Hopkins, World Politics through Duke's TIP program in London, Biotechnology at WPI, the Civic Education Project in Chicago, and Mathematics through the Advanced Mentorship Program (AMP).  The College scholars program allowed Tanner to attend college at Dartmouth.

In 2007, Tanner enrolled at Dartmouth where he studied Government.  Tanner also took an exchange term at the London School of Economics.  Outside of class he also walked onto the Heavyweight rowing team and rowed competitively for four years; he is also a member of Dartmouth's Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.  After his freshman year he interned at the US Department of Veterans Affairs made possible by the Rockefeller Center's Public Policy and Affairs Internship Grant.  Sophomore year he worked as a Residential Adviser to freshman.  During his junior year he interned at Public Citizen's Litigation Group to pursue his interest in public interest law.  After graduating from Dartmouth, Tanner rowed for US Rowing's Seniors Mens Development Camp.  Currently he is taking a year off to work full time and coach rowing part time at the University of Pennsylvania before attending law school.
