Biography

Highlights of Young Scholar Experience: Anthony participated in many summer programs, including studying politics in Washington, DC, and taking part in a summer semester abroad in England where he studied the works and history of St. Thomas More. Anthony also took part in the LeadAmerica Congressional Student Leadership Conference and attended the Foundation for Teaching Economics seminar at William and Mary College.

Profile: If you were to give Anthony a tough job to do, you could be sure of two things: He’d do it, and he’d do it right. The young man who won just about every honor offered at Hillsdale Academy was a shining star in the classroom, on the golf links, with his local Boy Scout troop and at his parish where he was an altar server for the past eight years. In addition, he played the violin in his high school orchestra.   Anthony, the eldest of five children, said he’s always tried to seek out opportunities outside of school to further enhance his education, whether it was summer programs, college classes, or independent study.

Inspiration: During Anthony’s junior year of high school, he took a political science class with Dr. Nathan Schlueter, a professor at Hillsdale College. Dr. Schlueter was a major factor in Anthony’s intellectual development during his final year in high school.

Aspiration: At present, Anthony is still deciding what path his career will take although he plans to study psychology in college.

Making a Difference: Anthony’s Eagle Scout project involved the construction of fences at a local cemetery. He also was an active member of the Columbian Squires, a service organization for young men that is affiliated with the Knights of Columbus.

Accolades:  Anthony received the Hillsdale County Rotary Club Award, is a National Merit Semifinalist, and a member of the National Honor Society.

Interesting fact:  He was a member of Hillsdale Academy’s State Quiz Bowl Team that finished in third place in Michigan.
