Daniel Jung says music has been an integral part of his being ever since he began playing the violin at age four. As a Young Scholar, he has expanded his musical understanding through years of lessons. “The violin has become more of an extension of my body than a separate object. For me, music is a higher form of communication that transcends current understandings of language,” he says.
Daniel has also developed his passion for debate by participating in workshops during the summer, competing in tournaments, and leading the school Debate Squad. “Debate is a unique activity that inspires a thirst for knowledge without censorship,” he says. “This activity has been the inspiration of many of my other passions towards the community and towards my personal growth.” Daniel plans to major in biolaw and bioethics in college. He says he is motivated by the awareness that his actions affect not only himself but everyone else in society. When he was a baby, his family immigrated to America in search of a better future. Daniel says his parents have instilled in him that success is not determined by a person’s level of achievement, but by what they do with that achievement.
