Emann Odufu

Biography

Emann Odufu believes in following his heart. It has led him to dedicate hours to community service in various parts of the country. For the past two years, he has been involved with the All Star Talent Project in Newark, encouraging inner-city kids in the arts. As a Young Scholar, he has volunteered in Chicago’s toughest homeless shelters and in schools in Washington, DC. His heart has also led him to excel in private school, explore his writing talents, and to co-host an international conference on managing diversity for high school students from around the world.

Lately, Emann says his heart has been in his music. He started a rap group in his junior year called Cassanova Clique. “Performing with my rap group has awakened in me such a love for music that I am now creating and producing music for other local artists in New Jersey and am looking to pursue music as a career,” he says. For his senior project, Emann is co-planning a music fundraiser to raise money for a music studio at school.

Emann has valued the advice and support he has received as a Young Scholar. “The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is not just a check in the mail; it has become my family,” he says. “They have been there for me through thick and thin. I feel that as a scholar I have grown, especially as a result of the wonderful opportunities the Foundation has provided.”
