Biography

PROFILE: Frank Sabatini began taking college courses during his freshman year of high school. As a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholar he received instruction and was mentored by some of the top teachers in Pennsylvania. Music was and is his passion, and when he was just 16 it was off to the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts and Bard College at Simon’s Rock. Next stop on the career express for Frank was a year at The New School in New York City, arguably one of the top schools for young musicians in North America. But it was about that time that Frank decided a career in music performance was not what appealed to him. It was back to his native Pennsylvania and Lafayette College, and there the future came more into focus. One of Frank’s advisors at Lafayette says the young man was determined to find the right curriculum that would allow him to achieve his goals. Frank will be attending law school, focusing on intellectural property law, so that he can help musicians and other artists, like those with whom he worked in New York City, with legal issues.

INSPIRATION: During his time at Simon’s Rock, Frank became friends with Dr. John Myers, one of his music professors and his academic advisor. With Dr. Myers’ encouragement, Frank developed his musical abilities as well as other academic interests.

ASPIRATION: He plans to eventually teach the law so that he can research the ways in which intellectual property policies can be enacted or altered in order to encourage the production of creative art. He wants to help others reach their dreams just as the Foundation helped him reach his.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE: Frank tutored students at Easton Area High School.

ACCOLADES: He was named a McKelvy Scholar at Lafayette and received several Forensics Awards, including recently winning first place in a dramatic interpretation competition at Suffolk University.

INTERESTING FACT: Although Frank is primarily a trombonist, he composes and arranges music primarily on the piano.
