Biography

PROFILE: Christine (Chrissy) Lucas, a single mother of two, is eager to pursue a career in sports marketing. “I fell in love with marketing my first semester, but it wasn’t until later that I had a clear direction. One of my mentors told me about the sports studies program which I never even knew existed.”
After so many years away from school, she found herself loving college. “I couldn’t get enough. I became a sponge, soaking up all of the knowledge.” She has surprised herself with her own success. “The accomplishments I have made in these last five semesters both academically and personally have astounded me.”
INSPIRATION: Chrissy’s entire outlook changed when she became a parent. “I wanted so much to be a good mother and to afford my kids the experiences that I was deprived of as a child.” More recently, she was inspired by an art professor who helped her to start thinking out of the box. “He not only gave me tools to take with me in my future career, but gave me a whole new perspective going into subsequent classes.”
ASPIRATION: Chrissy aspires to work in college athletics as a marketing director.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE: Chrissy is a volunteer fundraiser and provides support to other students as an intern to her community college’s leadership and outdoor adventure class.
ACCOLADES: Chrissy was on the Dean’s List for five consecutive terms at Monroe.
INTERESTING FACT: Chrissy has coached youth football for the past three years.
