Biography

PROFILE: Katherine “Kat” Robinson seemingly did it all during her two-year stint at Rio Salado College in Arizona. Robinson earned a place on the All-Arizona Academic Team by maintaining a near perfect GPA while devoting herself to college activities and volunteering in the community. She was an officer of the local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, served as editor of the honor society’s newsletter, was the student coordinator of a Beautification and Community Garden Program, and was a dedicated victim response member for Pandora’s Project. Kat likes to talk about the “pieces of her personal puzzle” which allowed her to succeed in college: her personal ambition for an education, the dedicated professors she met at Rio Salado, and, of course, her tenacity to “always perform at my best.” Kat’s personal puzzle will be completed in a few years when she completes law school and achieves her dream of becoming an attorney.

INSPIRATION: Kat said Michelle Prins of Rio Salado College “is undoubtedly the best professor I have encountered in my academic career.” Ms. Prins built up Kat’s confidence, “while pushing me to challenge myself.”

ASPIRATION: The 2008 Presidential election ignited in Kat a passion to involve herself in public policy and the political process. She hopes to practice law and facilitate change on significant social issues.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE:   Kat is most proud of her acceptance to Cornell University and forever grateful to the Foundation for making it all possible. “In 2005, after graduating high school, my dreams of higher education were dashed when I realized I could not afford college. As the years passed, I wondered how I would be able to attend college and pursue my ambition to become a lawyer. Today I am witnessing my dreams coming true.”

ACCOLADES: Kat was named to the All-Arizona Academic First Team, is a Coca-Cola Bronze Scholar, and has also received the Chancellor Scholarship from Rio Salado College.

INTERESTING FACT: Kat has two weaknesses: the Phoenix Suns and any type of breakfast cereal.
