Profile: There have been a lot of people looking out for and rooting for Stephanie Caldwell in her life. It started early on in her small hometown in central
Inspiration: The aforementioned Tammy Alvaro, who Stephanie met at MMCC, is her Phi Theta Kappa advisor “and my life has drastically changed because of her.” Ms. Alvaro helped Stephanie grow into a leader “through love and a passionate attitude” and showed her to always be true to yourself. “Tammy is self sacrificing, often putting our needs before hers. I never met anyone with a bigger heart for student success than her.”
Aspiration: After earning her undergraduate degree Stephanie has ambitious plans for imparting social change. Based on her personal family tragedy, she hopes to someday start a foundation that will assist others who have lost their parents. Beyond that, she would like to involve herself in cancer research.
Making a Difference: Stephanie spends a great deal of time volunteering with the American Cancer Society and with her church.
Accolades: In addition to the Foundation’s recognition of her for her academics and community service, Stephanie said she was honored to serve as an officer for her Phi Theta Kappa chapter. She was also nominated by MMCC for the All USA Academic Team. Also at MMCC she earned a high honor grade point average.
Interesting Fact: She has a picture of wrestler John Cena on her bulletin board. “I am a huge WWE wrestling fan.”
