Biography

Profile: Traci Travis Glassock is well known among philanthropies and foundations throughout Southern California.  As the Manager for Support Groups for Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, Traci’s dedicated to the Center’s mission of providing its patrons with significant national and international productions of music, dance, and theater.  Among her other day-to-day duties, is fundraising, something which Traci has put her heart and soul into, especially when it benefits the arts.  An honors graduate of Vanguard University and Orange Coast College, Traci will begin graduate studies in the fall of 2011 at California State University, Long Beach “26 miles across the sea” from her favorite spot in the world, Catalina Island where you’ll find Traci on most weekends.  Attending graduate school is very special for Traci, as she is the first member of her family to attend college and graduate school.

Inspiration: In community college Traci was fortunate to meet and become friends with Kate Mueller, Dean of Students, “who has had a great influence on the direction that my career and academic plans have taken.” It was during Dr. Mueller’s first year at Orange Coast College that Traci was Student Body President and “she was instrumental in providing me the variety of experiences and opportunities that led me to finally know what I wanted to do with my career.” Dr. Mueller, Traci said, “is a true leader, leading by example and always the first to be interested and supportive of anything that I choose to pursue.”

Aspiration: Her goal is to continue what she is already doing for a living: fundraising.  The “fundraising bug” bit Traci after 9-11 when she led an effort at Orange Coast College to raise funds for the Red Cross, then also to raise funds for a school near Ground Zero in New York that had been damaged during the terrorist attack.

Making a Difference:  Scholastically, Traci said she is proud that she was able to work full time and maintain grades high enough to graduate Summa Cum Laude.  “Personally, I am proud that I made it through a double-hip replacement so well that I have been able to re-claim a very active lifestyle.”  And lastly, professionally, Traci is proud of the example that she set on a daily basis with her co-workers of being of service to others and “always having the time to help someone who needs help with the workload or just needs someone to listen.”

Accolades: Traci graduated with honors from both Orange Coast College and Vanguard University.  She has been President of the Alumni and Friends Association at Orange Coast College “and has had the honor of fundraising and awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships to deserving students at OCC each year.”

Interesting Fact: Traci worked as a blackjack, roulette, and craps dealer in Las Vegas for three years.
