Ever since he can remember, Warren Van Nus says he has sought out new and better ways of doing things. “I love the challenge of developing, executing, and tweaking solutions, no matter the subject,” he explains. His dream is to run a business that designs environmentally friendly and efficient factories. To get there, he plans to study mechanical and industrial engineering as well as architecture in college before pursuing a master’s degree in business.
As a Young Scholar, Warren has broadened his horizons by taking summer enrichment courses in math and engineering. While attending a management and technology program at the University of Pennsylvania, Warren obtained an inside glimpse of the operations at several large, technology based-businesses, which he says increased his interest in the field. Additionally, Warren also attended a music camp for violin, and, as a decorated Eagle Scout, he helped lead a troop in the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree.
Through his myriad opportunities as a Young Scholar, Warren has not only discovered what he enjoys doing, but he has also discovered the power of relationships and networking. “The experiences I have had as a Young Scholar are life changing,” he says. “I have studied at some of the nation’s top colleges, toured companies I read about in the news, and became part of a powerful community of Scholars.”
