Biography

James Taylor Flores thinks it may be an advantage for him to be in his late 40’s as he prepares for a career in medicine. “I catch myself contemplating my own mortality,” he says. “It instills in me a deep compassion for those who find themselves facing the odds of a deadly disease or dealing with the progressive limitations of aging.”

In his last job, James was manager of research and development for a home health and hospice company. At the same time, he was taking pre-medical classes at Saint Philip’s College, compiling a 4.0 GPA, and earning membership in Phi Theta Kappa honor society. He also trained at the University of Texas Health and Science Center in San Antonio.

James envisions himself running his own practice in the neighborhood where he was raised as a boy and treating thousands of patients regardless of their ability to pay. “I’ve had many goals in life and have achieved most of them,” he says, “but this goal to be a family physician is so passionate it aches.”
