Randy’s provocative works of metal, wood, and paint have earned considerable recognition.

Based on the Civic Education Project’s award-winning citizenship and leadership program, the Foundation’s CivicWeek brings together a select number of Young Scholars who apply for a weeklong, service-learning immersion experience. Through the CivicWeek program, Scholars examine a specific social issue – such as hunger and homelessness, law and social justice, or public health—and the impact of these issues in urban communities. In partnership with local nonprofit organizations and community leaders, students learn about the realities of each problem by participating in the work being done to change it.
CivicWeek participants come away from their experience not only more knowledgeable about a particular social issue and about how to make a difference in communities, but perhaps more importantly knowing that they have made themselves part of the solution and have left a positive mark on the communities they have served.
