Diane Pozefsky

Computer Science Mentor

Dr. Diane P. Pozefsky earned an Sc.B. Degree in applied mathematics from Brown University in 1972 and her Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Diane’s professional career has focused on networking, software development and applications of computing to society and science.

Dr. Pozefsky worked for IBM for 25 years and was named an IBM Fellow in 1994 in recognition of her work on the specification and product development of two networking architectures, APPN and AnyNet. Applying her networking knowledge to a real world environment, she was responsible for the network design for the 1998 Olympics.

Diane is currently a Research Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill, bringing her industrial experience to students. Her current research interests include software engineering, computers and society, cheminformatics, virtualization, web application technologies and serious games.
