Dr. Lorna Rodriguez was appointed Chief of Gynecologic Oncology at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in April of 2000.
Dr. Rodriguez received her B.S. from the University of Puerto Rico in 1975 Magna Cum Laude and her M.D. in 1979. After she finished her specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology she went to the University of Michigan where she trained as a gynecologic oncologist. She received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 1996 from the University of Rochester. She joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology where she was Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology from 1996-2000.
Dr. Rodriguez's ultimate goal is to better understand the mechanism of ovarian cancer metastases in order to develop new treatment modalities.
