Cooke Foundation Recognizes Three Scholars for Outstanding Contributions to Their Communities

For their outstanding contributions to the communities in which they live, Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholar alumnus Chat Travieso has been awarded this year’s $10,000 Matthew J. Quinn Prize. In addition, Cooke Young Scholars Agata Bykovtsev and Sarah Sahibousidq have each been awarded a $2,500 Matthew J. Quinn Youth Leadership Award.

Four Cooke Scholars Participate in White House’s Beating the Odds Summit

Rising Cooke College Scholars Dawit Gebre and Emily Janis will join 130 college-bound, high school graduates from across the country today for a special event at the White House. Two of the event's sessions will be facilitated by Jack Kent Cooke Foundation staff, and one will feature current Cooke College Scholars Myles McMurchy, a student at Dartmouth College, and Merilin Castillo, a student at Harvard University.

Cooke Foundation Awards $100,000 to the Society for Science & the Public to Close the Excellence Gap in Science

Low-income students often lack the guidance and support needed to submit successful entries to scientific research competitions, a critical milestone for students intending to pursue careers in STEM disciplines. Thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, the Society for Science & the Public (SSP) is piloting a new program to recruit teachers, counselors, and scientists to become advocates for these students and help close the Excellence Gap.
