2018 Senior Summit College Fair
The event will begin with small group essay writing workshops. Scholars will come with a draft to share with the admissions officers, who will offer their feedback and tips for how to write a great essay.
Scholars will then do a brief mock interview, followed by the fair. Our goal is to provide our 61 rising seniors an opportunity to practice their interviewing skills and learn about the diverse array of colleges and universities across the country. To achieve this goal we need representatives to participate in both portions — the mock interview and the fair. While we strongly prefer a member of your staff attend, we welcome alumni representatives who are comfortable conducting a mock interview.
The Cooke Foundation’s Young Scholars Program nurtures high-achieving 8th–12th grade students across the country who have financial need.
Each year, more than 2,000 7th graders nationwide apply for approximately 50 spaces. Those selected demonstrate academic excellence, determination, leadership, community engagement, and financial need. Approximately 40% of our current Cooke Young Scholars are at or below the poverty level.
Scholars receive mentoring from an educational adviser who collaboratively works with the student and family to construct a tailored educational program. Scholars receive financial support for a variety of opportunities and resources throughout high school such as summer programs, distance learning courses, technology, tutoring, music lessons, and internships.
