In Memoriam: Stuart A. Haney

Stuart with Cooke Scholars at the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation

We were saddened to learn of the passing of one of our charter board members this past Saturday – Stuart Haney.

Stuart delighted in spending time with Cooke Scholars – whether he was discussing their academic interests or their personal ambitions. Stuart reveled in their success and pushed our team here at the Foundation to figure out new ways to support our scholars and alumni and foster their connections with each other.

Our scholars and alumni have shared with us how they in turn reveled in their conversations with him – enjoying the moments when he would regale them with anecdotes from his career working for Mr. Cooke. Stuart would continue these conversations in email – and through his constant presence on LinkedIn.

Stuart spoke of Mr. Cooke’s vision of a network of scholars united by their common bonds across a diverse field of scholarly pursuits and achievements.  Our scholars and alumni are the embodiment of that network. Stuart often remarked on how proud he was of them and the community they create daily, and how grateful he was to have been a part of executing Mr. Cooke’s vision.

Here is a link to Stuart’s obituary. He will be missed by all.
